The Oodnadatta Racing & Horse Sports committee comprises of a small group of local people who volunteer their time, skill & a desire to continue 116years of traditional bush racing for travellers & competitors with the aim to provide unique fun filled weekend in the heart of South Australia's Outback.
Our traditional weekend of bush racing is a 2 day event in May. Local children come in from the surrounding stations to compete with their horses and the adults’ gymkhana is hotly contested by all who stand at the starting line! The weekend highlights bush racing in its finest form. Fancy a flutter on the 7 local races or try your luck on the interstate tracks. If horse racing doesn't quite take your interest, what about the camel races or the local Iron Man competition!
If you are unable to join us for our race weekend maybe the Bronco Branding & Campdraft, which is held annually in July, another outback experience to consider! The Bronco Branding weekend showcases the traditional skills of the men & woman of the bush in the competition arena.
The Charities that benefit are The Royal Flying Doctor Service, Cancer Research, School of the Air, Australian Inland Mission Hospital - Oodnadatta, Ronald McDonald House, Isolated Children's Parents Association to name only a few but all have impacted on the lives of those who live in the bush!
For those of you who like to catch up over a few drinks, the bar is open until the early hours of the morning! On Course Catering Available.
